This presentation focused on the SUDI deaths. Unsafe sleeping practices were the outstanding risk factor, occurring in all SUDI deaths, and in over 80% there was more than one unsafe sleep practice coinciding.
SUDI deaths were overrepresented in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population and in regional and remote locations regardless of indigeneity.
Smoking in pregnancy, a significant risk factor was extremely common among mothers of infants in the SUDI group.
