The Clinical Excellence Division would like to wish Julie Hulcombe well as she departs the role of Chief Allied Health Officer today.

An Accredited Practicing Dietician, Julie has been in the role for nearly 11 years and has worked tirelessly to ensure the effective and efficient use of Queensland Health’s allied health workforce to meet the current and future health service needs of Queensland.
Julie’s leadership and strategic direction have made an outstanding contribution to our healthcare system, transforming the way people receive allied health services across the state. These have included the implementation of recommendations from two Ministerial Taskforces including health practitioner expanded scope of practice, and the development and implementation of initiatives from the health practitioner industrial agreements.
“The work of the Allied Health Professions’ Office of Queensland, under her guidance, has led initiatives in clinical education and research capacity building as well as an ambitious workforce reform agenda to meet the growing demands on the system,” Dr John Wakefield, Deputy Director-General said.
“While we’re losing a wonderful asset today, her leadership and advocacy for the allied health professions over the last decade have positioned the workforce for every success in the future.
“On behalf of the department, I would like to thank Julie for her dedication and wish her luck with her future endeavours; I look forward to seeing what she does next.”
The role of the Chief Allied Health Officer is currently under recruitment, and we look forward to announcing the successful candidate once they’re appointed.
The Allied Health Professions' Office of Queensland plays a key role in the development, implementation and evaluation of allied health strategies, and is a central source of information and advice to the Minister of Health, the department and our Hospital and Health Service partners.
